Alpines

The true definition of an alpine (in relation to plants) is: "growing or found on high mountains". However, in most garden situations, any plants considered suitable for rockeries, sink/container gardens and scree beds are generally classified as “Alpines”. Using this general rule, the plants in this category are suitable for use on rock gardens …etc.

Included within this catagory are many intriguing plants; Primula rosea, though short - flowering just above the foliage (and before the foliage appears in spring!) - the flowers are not small, as well as being a wondefull shade of pink; Parahebe ‘Snowclouds’, which is so very aptly named, grows to approx. 9" (23cm) and is covered in a profusion of snowy white flowers in summer; and many more besides.
