Cabbages

Below are details of the varieties of Summer, Winter, Spring, Savoy and Pak Choi we will have available as plants this year.

All our varieties Cabbage are sown in seed trays and individually pricked out into cell trays, consisting of 24 cells, which are easily dividable into to individual plants. Therefore, any multiple of plants can be purchased from 1 and up. many customers like to use this facility to buy a whole tray of plants (getting the cheaper rate for whole trays), but also a mixture of varieties. A policy we encourage.

All cabbage plants are 25p each or £5 a whole tray (24 plants)

Summer Cabbage

Derby Day

Ball headed. Best planted during either Spring or early summer. A goo bolt resistant variety.
Summer Cabbage

Golden Acre

Ball headed. A compact and firm variety. Best planted from Spring to early Summer.

Greyhound

An old variety of pointed cabbage which can be eaten as greens or grown on to produce a head.

Winningstadt

A pointed variety, suitable for use as green or hearts. Solid heads with a sweet flavour.

Christmas Drumhead

Large, firm green heads which are excellent for harvesting in Autumn.

Flat, round heads of a medium purple colour. Standard winter cabbage
Savoy Cabbage

Ormskirk

Late variety with good standing ability for cutting over a long period.

Chinese Cabbage

Wong Bok

Large, barrel shaped heads, with crisp, light green leaves and white midribs. Up to 2.5Kg heads.

Pak Choi

Mei Quing Choi

Pale green stems and rich green foliage, For baby-head, full-head or baby-leaf production.
Bolt resistant.

Red Cabbage

Rodima

Tight, intense red heads with a good flavour and standing ability.

Spring Cabbage

Durham Early

A good variety for both spring greens and hearted production.

Spring Cabbage

Myatt’s Offenham Compacta

Medium colour, good bolting tolerance. Good for spring greens or pointed spring cabbage.
